Oh dear, BMW defeated in most areas except a brake distance test.
The fake vents comment made me laugh...the Supra cannot talk! Not great for BMW to get beaten on a joint project though. Hmmm.

OMG yes of course, I totally forgot the spec is very different for US bound Z4. There will be quite a lot of comparisons out shortly I'm sure.

I feel like they should have swapped drivers for the rematch race. Are both cars running same rear tire sizes?? Either way the Supra seems to be BMWs only legit sports car at the moment.
It's gonna be Facing off against the M4 GT4 car next year in the GTWorld racing series. And with a 3.9 and 12.0 acceleration numbers it looks like it can hang. |

Wow... BMW really dropped the ball on this one. The Z4 is suppose to do 0-60 is 3.9 seconds.. So you're telling me a Supra is going to be faster than most/half of the M performance models from BMW? What a joke.

Yep, interesting but largely irrelevant to us on this side of the pond. As per the dyno thread the NA M40i has more power than the Supra. 34hp difference at the rear wheels

This result makes perfect sense these are the same car under the skin....
In what car is the convertible version ever faster than the coupe???? The Supra should be faster! More bracing for the open top adds weight Top mechanism adds weight Plus the bmw has more driver aid and safety tech which adds weight Not to mention more sound proofing and other luxury touches If the Supra wasn't faster that would not make sense |

If it’s not tuned differently, then why is Toyota recommending regular gas in the Supra?

It is a different tune, but Toyota did not tune it. There are dozens of B58 tunes within BMW's fleet alone. The Supra just has another variant. But it's not a Toyota tune. It may have been based on Toyota specs for temperature, loads, fuel grade, etc, but that would be about the extent of it.

According to the specs the z4 m40i weighs 3443 lbs and the supra weighs 3397 lbs. For whatever reason the supra doesnt seem to have a different hp rating between the euro and NA version like the z4 does. The supra has been dynoed at 339 rwhp and 427ft lbs. The NA Z4 has been dynoed on the same type of dyno at 373 rwhp and 425 ft lbs. Even if the weight difference was 100lbs, the Z4 is quicker based on those numbers. What I'd like to know is if the euro Supra has the gasoline particulate filter or not and what the real difference that filter makes....ive heard 6hp...
