Cutting the cord just doesn't work out dollars wise for me...

My internet by itself (without a bundle) is $90/mo and I'm already playing with the 1TB monthy data cap on it. Add another $15-$30 for additional data plus one of the alternate streaming services and I'm practically paying the same amount that I do for cable. It sucks having no competition here.

I dumped cable at $190/mo and now pay $30/mo for internet only with Apple TV. No regrets except I'm reduced to Youtube summaries of F1 and ATP tennis. Ads reduced by 90%. I can't imagine going back.

The cost of getting a basic TV streaming package is pretty low. I pay $85 per month only because I picked the biggest package PS Vue had. I think you can get a basic set of channels from Sling (and others) for around $15 per month.

i looked into this a decent amount. I need to pay for decent internet, so after you do that, and pay for a streaming service, even a low level one, the savings are not too big. Maybe $30 a month or so. But this is just for me as i watch the English Premier League and the LA Kings. So i said, fine, keep bleeding me. But one day,....one day!

Get Internet, the NHL package, and the NBC Sports Gold for the year and you're all set! I bet you'll save some money. Speaking of (real) football, I'm pissed that Fox lost the CL games. Bleacher Report sucks and they want to charge $2.99 per game other than the one they have on. They have the worst studio pundits. Steve Nash as a football commentator??? WTF FFS!

NBC screwed the whole nbc sports thing up. Now they have two things
1) regular NBC sports (included in your cable)
2) NBC gold (showing certain games not televised on 1 which i have just in case a Manchester United game isn't on regular NBC channels, eff me!)

not sure about the NHL package and if blackouts apply.

I'm young, single, and busy. Neither me nor my roommate have ever been interested in cable.

I don't really watch anything on TV besides sports. It's not ideal but for games on ESPN I just stream them through Reddit or head to a bar. For sports shows like Colin Cowherd programme I just head to Youtube.

Cable is inefficient as well. Have to get DVR to make it worthwhile as sitting through ads every 10 mins is stupid.

I'd love to cut the cord but don't know if I can get the Bruins anywhere locally. I hate NESN.

Did you check some of the sports packs? Some of the streaming providers offer it. Haven't checked on NESN.

I discovered Kodi about a year ago and man these things are purely awesome! I cut the cable and never looked back. As long as your internet connection is stable you can watch endless amounts of live streaming of channels from all over the world! Also endless movies, no waiting for shows to run just binge watch complete series in one sitting. Simply awesome.

Which Android box are you using? I'm using an older Beelink GT1(I think that's the name) and it's nice but I'm wanting something with more storage capacity.

I bought multiple android boxes 2 years ago and used with Kodi and some others. I was completely disappointed. Video quality was shit, took forever for anything to stream to watch. The movie quality was terrible in the event that it even played. A few months back I bought a firestick and programmed it with Kodi again to see if perhaps I just had lackluster boxes, same experience. I'd prefer not to pay what I do for cable, but my interwebs are blazing fast and I have HD whatever I want to watch whenever I want to watch. Problems is, I rarely watch TV.

I've tried to find a way to do it, but it doesn't make sense financially for me b/c I still need internet & by the time I subscribe to all the other junk I need to watch my shows, I'm almost at the same amount of $ as my FIOS bill.

60$ for life for local internet here (centurylink) bought an antenna from amazon for 8$. Gets all the local channels and a little more in HD, real great quality. Was spending $180+ for the cable/internet bundle BS and fluctuating bills. Glad I cut the cord. Also use my PS4 for all other apps, Netflix, YouTube etc. if you’re tech savvy you can also get to live sports and newer movies via PS4

Exactly. Not to sound any kind of way, but when you have a massive TV that you well paid for, I don't want to look at an image that looks like it's less than 480i. I paid for a clear picture and if I have to pay to see a clear image it's worth not being frustrated when I watch something.

Over here I have found providers beginning to make deals. i cut the cord a year or so ago and finding sport was a real pain in the arse.

Called up to "cancel" my internet with Bell (had no intention of doing so but gave me leverage) and they bent over backwards to accommodate me and included streaming TV (all sports channels, all basic channels and 5 pick n choose channels) for no extra cost. By streaming I mean it's an app on my TV (firestick) and phone, no box or PVR.

i'm happy with that, not paying a cent more and have the TV we need. Image quality isn't great, mrs can't see it but i can tell it's not proper HD sharp.

I saved ~$70/month by dumping Comcast and going with the following:

FIOS 100/100 download/upload is $40/month.

Basic DirecTV Now package w/ HBO is $45/month.

Aside from growing agitated at an ever increasing cable bill, getting a free Apple TV 4K certainly made cutting the cord much easier.

Out of all the available options (Playstation Vue, YouTube TV, Sling, etc.) there's most definitely a service out there for most everyone to save lots of monies every month.

Y'all are right, some of the quality is unBEARABLE but when it's right it's decent. My bestie pays like $180/month for Comcast cable and I just can't imagine letting that amount go every month on an intangible product. Movies and TV are important but I can't imagine paying that much to watch my personal faves of MSNBC, CNN, and ID Channel. If you're heavily vested in movies and series watching, the Android boxes are not the way to go.
