4 week update

It's been 4 weeks since I picked up my car at the Performance Center. It's been operating flawlessly and is a blast to drive. I've just about finished the break-in (700 miles was getting back from SC).

Driving around town and in parking lots, it generates lots of looks. The #1 comment I get is "Love the color." Yeah, I'm happy with Thundernight. It's attention getting, but not over the top.

I'm at the 8 week mark and the car has exceeded my expectations. Absolutely love it. The one and only complaint I have is I really wish ventilated seats were an option.

Tell me about it. We have them in the X5. This is Florida. Ten months out of the year, they're on high.

Unfortunately I don't think they'd work that well with the sport seats and the comfort seats wouldn't be right in the Z4.

My Porsche Carrera had ventilated seats and they weren't any larger than the Z4 seats and had about the same adjustments.

You can get them in M3/M4 and those seats are sport seats as well. Who knows the rationale behind it

It is. But if they can send people to the moon, BMW can figure out how to ventilate the Z4 seats.

As a former 'rocket scientist' I can confirm this. I will also say that being one is highly over rated. Rockets aren't all that complicated, they just don't leave much room for errors.

I take an ice pack with me sometimes when it's hot outside. 100% agree with you on this. I think it's because the ventilated seats pull air from underneath/behind - and there's no A/C pumping there in Z4. In the X5 with ventilation to get any real coolness you have to aim the rear A/C vents toward the seat and put them on high. What the car actually needs is air conditioned seats like the Audi SQ7. That A/C functionality in those seats is incredibly effective.

I'm 5 months into ownership and 5000 miles - it has been a great car. Especially happy with the engine and agility.

Also get compliments on the frozen grey color - most people ask if it's like that from the factory or a wrap.

I did a 12-month review cause after that period of time, i certainly still loved it, but also kind of found things I didn't love so much lol. Overall i'm still completely enamored with the Z4.

There is no such thing as the perfect car but IMHO my Z4 M40i is loads of fun to drive and I look forward to getting behind the wheel every day!

100%!!! No question there. No car has ever put a smile on my face quite like the Z4. I will post a link: I'm not monetized or anything ... so I'm JUST sharing my experience with this. I drove the XM, M3 Comp and i4... here was my experience.

As fun as this was... still does not come close to the long term good vibe feeling I get from the Z4. Can't wait to get behind the wheel of the M40i.
