Fun really is a subjective matter and can be quite situational. I own a Z4MR and a 911 Carrera 4S. I can tell you for a fact that when the sun is out and it is not raining the Z4MR with the top down is more fun. The 911 or M2 can't do that. Now when it rains or is too cool and the Z4MR's top is up the 911 is waaaay more "fun" (or enjoyable mind you).

I've driven all of the above including a 6SPD M2 OG and a Z4 30i or whatever its called with the top down and I can tell you just exceeding street level speeds the Z4 30i, even though I prefer manuals, gave me way more joy than the M2 I drove. Could I daily it? Not in inclement weather. Fun is so subjective and thats why we have different brands and types of cars.

drive one first then comment...people stop me everywhere I drive it and talk about how new and fresh the design is...and your manual Trans is about to go extinct BTW...

seems to be a band wagon of praisers for these automatic transmissions. sure theyre better than they have ever been but nothing beats popping that clutch and bangin through six gears. then dropping two gears and reving through the power band.

A Double clutch transmission is absolutely mandatory. Especially with a very basic over-boosted laggy turbo engine (without variable turbine geometry) like Z4 has.

I have owned 6 BMWs, including the M4, rented about 20 of them, test drove a variety of ZFs and manuals. Also DCTs and double clutch ones on 6 Porsches I’ve owned in the past few years.

ZF auto is trash. The Z4 is a fancy grandma car.

comparing the price or performance of a modified 2013 car to a new stock Z4 makes zero sense. My 2014 F type cost far less than 2020 Z4 and was faster too.....so what?
