SOLVED! Roof noise
Maybe this post will help someone with the same issue. I have been struggling with a noise coming from the soft top in the colder weather (below 15c), a clicking noise similar to metal to metal. After two years of complaints to the bmw dealer, and them not acknowledging the issue, I found a post in the g29 bimmerpost forums by user “kfer” (god bless you) describing a possible solution regarding this issue, and thought I should give it a try. Lo and behold, the noise now disappeared! Turns out, there are two plastic “wires” which hold tension into the fabric, and those wires keep touching the metal part above them, creating the annoying clicking noise. The solution is to place any kind of barrier between them and the metal, which could be any rubber/fabric, but not too thick, as it could stop you from attaching the wires back into place. I will post some pictures describing the process as well as a video of the noise I was getting.

Thanks for sharing! As these cars age this is something that could come up down the line. Great info about the noise and how to remedy.

Temperature definitely plays a roll in the noises my car makes, there's a hard plastic on plastic noise that comes from the area of the upper door speaker or A pillar when I hit a sharp bump but only at highway speeds that only happens 35 degrees F or below, the passenger side rear speaker causes a buzzing somewhere with certain frequencies of bass but only between 30 and 50 degrees, the dealership hasn't been able to resolve either.
