I've been researching this model. Just an fyi, Samsung dropped Dolby Vision on all their models for 2019. So if you watch a lot of content that uses DV you might reconsider.

Another fyi, if you are patient super bowl weekend will have the best tv deals. The new 2020 tv's will be released and the 2019s will need to be cleared out.

Other than that though I couldn't find anything that was interesting or a great deal; the $249 ipad is a decent deal if anyone's looking for it. As usual, xbox/ps4 are sub $200. Will shop for clothes mainly this year it seems, last year grabbed a north face vest for $20ish at dick's; hopeful but not expecting a Patagonia sale too.
update: ended up just buying a hydroflask, been wanting to get one for a while. dicks' 25% sale came in clutch; a meal prep box set from walmart (same as above, was wanting that for a while. $7 is super cheap for basically 30 small tupperware boxes) and two hoodies from macy's.

went to all the big chains, line at best buy was insanely long, target was messy and walmart was... walmart.

I was just looking at a 1TB micro-SD card that Amazon has for $199. Now I have no use for such a card at all, but it stuns me that a mere 10 years ago a terabyte of storage was yuuuuugely expensive. I remember buying a 768GB server for the office that ran $24k. Of course it was RAID6 and had huge I/O pipes, but still, we figured we'd never need a full TB for storage. And that was for 15 or 20 faculty members and staff to share. Now you can have a TB of storage space in your drone or windshield camera.

For those who are looking for a nice looking garage storage solution and have a Sam's Club membership, as always, the Seville Classic cabinet is $50 off.

https://www.samsclub.com/p/tall-stor...lp_product_1_1

I just purchased 3 more cabinets for our rental office (bringing us up to 7 total). Easy to put together and not bad quality cabinets for being $150.

Back in the late 1980's, I had to be the first person on my block with a 1 GIGabyte hard drive. Think 5.25" full height drive, parallel SCSI-1 ribbon cable, 32ms access time, and the lights dimming whenever it was spinning up. Retail was $2,500, but I got it from one of our wholesale distributors for "only" $1,820.

The fact that they give away 32GB USB thumb drives that hold 32X more data with a faster access time and fit in your pocket as free trick-or-treat gifts at trade shows and conferences really annoys me.

Hearing that there is now a storage device that holds 1,024 times more data for 1/10 the price that I need tweezers to install in a Raspberry Pi brings exactly two words to mind...FSCK YOU!

Seriously though, I wonder what would have happened if I put that $1,820 into an index fund that tracks the S&P 500 back in 1989?????

And this is why a company such as Pioneer got out of the TV business. I'm left with wondering how great a TV they would be producing now a days.

Crazy isn't it. I have a smaller one, but plenty big enough for us as we rarely watch a lot of TV. But we went for quality over quantity.

Last year....we bought a fridge during Black Friday made by none other than Samsung. I didn't even realize they made them. Very nice....has ambient lighting and all.

This year.....I was very much contemplating buying a Supercharger for a project. Shows you where my mind is.

But unless it's something I really need, I always find that I talk myself out of purchases. And there really isn't much that I need right now.

I broke down and bought an insulated cycling vest and two pairs of matching socks. Only because they were 25% off with free shipping. Well under $100. My big Black Friday splurge.

As an industry professional that has sold literally many thousands of tvs (while working for a national wholesale distributor); this is mostly poppycock. Black Friday through Super Bowl Sunday (the entire time) is the time of the year with the lowest prices. Prices change weekly (on Sundays in the US at least), so my advice is to pick a model and keep an eye out for it to go on sale. If it's goes on sale anytime from Black Friday on, it's probably the best price you're going to see until it's discontinued.

BTW... anyone significant in the industry already knows what panels are going to sell for during this period from Black Friday until Super Bowl Sunday. The major manufacturers publish confidential discount roadmaps so retailers have a clue. Perhaps you could find a leak someplace online?

I think there is only one wall in my house where I could hang that and still be able to sit far enough back to view it properly.
