Is there no way to quickly turn off AC?

Team,

I usually don't run AC unless I need to but I noticed toggling AC on/off is very tedious in G29 Z4s for me. Only way seems to go in to ventilation menu from idrive interface and check-off the AC. All cars I owned usually have an AC on/off toggle button, maybe I'm missing something.

I think the OP is asking how to turn off A/C and leave air flow on thru vents. Only way Iíve found to do this is going into ventilation menu and checking it to off.

Thank you, this is exactly what I'm looking for. It is mind boggling that there is no dedicated button for this.

If you turn the A/C off with the A/C button ventilation still works fine. Everything still works the same as it does when the green light is on in the A/C button. There IS a dedicated button.

I just push the fan down button for 1 to 2 times until the AC off & open the windows

I don't seem to have an "A/C" button . I have "Max A/C" and "MENU A/C". I can't seem to toggle AC with these buttons unless I go through the "Menu A/C" and uncheck "A/C" from idrive. Again, I would like to keep the ventilation on but just turn off A/C when not needed.

You are right. I was wrong - was thinking about my M4. In the Z4- we just leave the A/C on all the time and adjust the temp. A/C is for conditioning the air also, not just cooling it. Guess that is way it is called Air Conditioning

It sucks that they put it in M4 and not in Z4. A/C usually has an impact on performance and MPG, it sucks that there is no way to turn it off quickly when you don't need it.

I've not tried, but can you not map it to one of the 8 shortcut keys?

Just tell the car to turn it off, that's the quickest way.

Brilliant suggestion. Voice control worked like a charm. Thank you!

this has been driving me crazy too and only solution i have found is to say "air conditioning off"! I was thinking there had to be an easier way and meant to do some further exploration but this thread clarifies it all!
