Comparisons between Mr. Reagan and Mr. Trump - Flamesuit on.

I found this article as I was perusing information on Mr. Reagan. I think he was simply the best president of my era, without question.

https://www.newsmax.com/TheWire/trum.../03/id/665217/

The funny thing about the article is that it was written in 2015. Please chime in with your opinions!

c'mon man

Reagan was 2nd to Ford in 1976 primary Trump just spat about Obama'a Birth'r and college transcripts. Huge difference

Moral outrage between the 2 alone makes Reagan roll over in his grave.

Reagan was very caring of immigrants, tough but fair anyway. Trump just plain performs crimes against humanity.

Reagan was a poet and Trump can barely speak and read at 3rd grade level!

Half this list is BS at best and flat out propaganda or history re-write at worst.

Crimes against humanity? Really?

Duhaime's Law Dictionary

Crimes Against Humanity Definition:
An international criminal justice offence; the perpetration of acts of war upon a civilian, non-soldier population.

or this definition:

the Draft Code defined crimes against humanity as various inhumane acts, i.e., "murder, extermination, torture, enslavement, persecution on political, racial, religious or ethnic grounds, institutionalized discrimination, arbitrary deportation or forcible transfer of population,

So I think it safe to say that your comments would fall under the definition of TDS.

Compared to trump? Pfft. Not even close.

Look if your ignorance is my TDS so be it. Y'all still haven't shown a counter to the court filings against Trump during Reagan's or any other admin on the matter and I have proven just that. Trump even if your opinion varies clearly calls refugee and asylum seekers dehumanized names and reference equal to rodents, rapists, MS13 boogieman names. I stand by what I've said and express more of it.

I wasn't making a comment on your posts regarding Trump vs Reagan. My point was simply about your over the top characterization of Trump committing crimes against humanity, and that your over the top position supported a previous poster suggesting that you suffer from TDS. So feel free to qualify your view that Trump has committed crimes against humanity.

I'm sorry - what did you just say? I'm guessing you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

Crimes against Humanity

Examples:

War crimes, murder, massacres, genocide, ethnic cleansing, unethical human experimentation, extrajudicial punishments including summary executions, use of WMDs, state terrorism, death squads, kidnappings and forced disappearances, military use of children, enslavement, cannibalism, torture, and rape.

Current and prior world leaders or figureheads charged with, convicted of, or indicted for Crimes against Humanity:

General Hideki Tojo
Augusto Pinochet
Heinrich Himmler
Idi Amin
Bashar al-Assad
Pol Pot
Nicolás Maduro
Francois Duvalier
Hermann Göring
Saddam Hussein
Rudolf Hess
Martin Bormann
Mengistu Haile Mariam
Francisco Franco
Muammar Gaddafi
Bahr Abu Garda
Jean-Pierre Bemba
Joseph Kony

It is estimated that the men above are directly responsible for the deaths of between 12,000,000 and 30,000,000 innocent people.

Do you honestly believe that Trump is comparable to the people above? Do you honestly believe that Trump is guilty of the crimes mentioned in the example - of murder, cannibalism, and more?

If so, you are totally and completely deranged. Look, Trump may be a buffoon, a jerk, and treat many people poorly and with contempt - but to put him on a list that includes Pol Pot, the leaders of the Nazi party, and Joseph Kony is certifiably insane.

I think we can invoke Godwin's Law, I'll admit he didn't actually use Hitler as a comparator but if it walks like a duck.....

Here are the first 2 points and can we all agree that Mr. Trump is not a war criminal and actively committing crimes against humanity? That determination was completely off base and certifiable. In fact, it minimizes the suffering and horror of what such luminaries as Stalin, Hitler, Amin, and Pot visited upon their citizens and others.

Cheers-mk,

Cheers-mk,
The article makes some interesting comparisons, some are a bit thin but valid I guess. You did say "Flamesuit on" in the Thread subject line....I still have some Nomex Public Order uniforms in the basement I could pull out.

I was in HS when Reagan was elected President. I remember the ridicule he received with that Bedtime for Bonzo. I agree they hated him too, but we still had some level of respect for the office. I imagine he would be treated somewhat the same as Trump if Reagan was elected today.

Reagan however, was a gentleman and had a sense of decorum. So maybe he wouldn't be bashed as bad as Trump.

Well said. I was in HS when Mr. Reagan was elected, as well. He was the first president I voted for in the 1984 election and back then I was a registered Democrat. He and one of my professors in grad school are largely responsible form me becoming a conservative. Truly a transformative time in my life.

Mr. Trump is a street fighter when it comes to handling his opponents. Mr. Reagan was the consummate gentleman and both gave and demanded respect despite the fact that the press and democrats were rudely dismissive of him.

I have to wonder if Trump might be "less Trump" if he wasn't being continually hammered by the left in politics, the MSM and Hollywood. My advice to him would be to turn the other cheek, having said that I'm not really good at it.
