I like to learn new ideas from this forum. I can probably copy and paste the word "ugly" as a response to any thread and people would be, "oh yea that sounds about right."

As for it will go out as soon as it arrived. Doubt it... let us revisit this thread in an year.

well said...

A car's beauty or lack thereof remains subjective.

IMHO its really not a bad looking car, there are some interesting design elements (kinked roof line, recessed door handles, quad taillights etc.)

also another funy thing that is getting to me is the launch control situation. people say using the launch control will void warranty? what is the absolute bottom line to this?

b/c the e46 m3 launch control is limited to 3 times in europe before engine warranty is void (3350-3500rpm launch). now US law states a car manufacturer can't give us a function that is limited. so bmw lowered the rpm launch on US cars to 1800-1850 and we can use it unlimited times and still have warranty in tact. even the new m3 has launch control at 5500rpm (and adjustable) and we can use that unlimited times and still have warranty in tact.

so what is really the beef with the gt-r? nissan can't expect people to hop on their future gt-r v-spec with the limitations do they? yes the cars are selling and there is a wait list but seriously wtf
European E46 M3 launch control is limited to 3 uses and then your warranty is void? That is the most ridiculous rumor I've ever heard about an M3

I can just imagine what it shows in the manual

"Your M3 is equipped with launch control, make sure to choose wisely when you are going to use it. BMW is fine with the use of launch control three times, but on the 4th try you are totally screwed"

I think people are not realizing the whole concept of the GTR. This car wasn't meant to win a beauty contest. It was meant to win races. The design of the car was dictated by function over form. Each body panel was used to direct air for downforce. If you watch and listen to videos of the car's engineers, designers, and project managers, you'll realize that this car is for nerds created by nerds. This car is awfully technical with no real bias towards other aspects of auto build.

If people want beautiful car design, they would go italian (ie Maserati, Alfa Romeo). Obviously the people who purchased the GT-R didn't care for looks, but considered its engineering instead.

I love the GT-R...problem is it's so damned expensive with the mark-ups.

Also, your warranty doesn't necessarily void if you do launch control. The idea behind that is, if you do 45 launch controls, and you kill your transmission, they're going to look at the black box and see you did 45 l/c's which resulted in a fucked up transmission, therefore the warranty for that part is voided.

ive said it a million times this car will not suceed in america....

it is too expensive...

We live in a country that is too materalistic to pay 70k for a Nissan, this is a car designed and marketed for the teens here who think fast is cool. Too bad not a lot of them can afford it. Bad move..

I don't know about that. Most automobile enthusiasts have really wanted a US spec GTR for the past 20 years. I think you are in for a surprise.

I thought this was f*cking funny.

I'll take a Z06 over the GT-R though, regardless of its speed, or even a 997 Carrera S. I don't find it attractive.

I think the designer didn't want to give the GT-R a more streamlined shape because he preferred a stronger, brutish look... this might have been Automobile Magazine. Fitting, as the car probably has brutal performance.

May you feel the wrath of Godzilla as it destroys everything in its path.

But seriously, this car is hot as shit. If I had $80k to spare, I wouldn't hesitate to dump my 335i for this car.

I love the ostentatious look and the electronic gadgetry is just icing on top.

Yes, I do see your point about the black box and limiting the warranty on the slightest modification...

For $80k, I guess there are a lot of very good alternatives.

I mean when your car does 0-60 in 3.3secs and the 1/4th in 11s...how much do you REALLY want to tune it?
