Technic harness and RCA's
I hoping someone can help me out.
I bought a new but second hand Technic harness for the base stereo with i-drive for a E90 with the view of fitting it to a F10 with pro nav but base hifi. Base being the 6 speaker system comprising 2 subs, 2 front and 2 rear speakers – generally found in Europe, Canada and Asia. The harness is as per the link below http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=749543 The harness is slightly different as it is pre wired for an MS8 with 16 pin molex’s on each of the cable runs from the quadlock to the boot(trunk). My views of using an MS8 now have now changed and I will either use a 5 or 6 channel amp instead. The amp will have RCA inputs and I plan to code the head unit to hifi. However I’d like some advice to the best approach. Option 1 Should I seek out a 16 pin female house and have it pinned up to allow it to mate to the 16 pin already on the technic cable runs? And attach a custom made RCA harness similar to the below. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=295062 Or Option 2 Am I better to cut off the molex and attach RCA’s direct to the cables? Any advice is welcome, as my knowledge of car hifi and any potential flaws in the above two options is limited. I note that Technic can sell a quadlock to amp cable which has a twisted RCA cable run. You can also get the Gladen 2ch/4ch quadlock harness from suppliers in the UK which will get you the RCA termination that you require. This is what I have in my car...
