I do not know of any manufacturer that carries it for your engine

I decided on a Mishimoto can and 19 mm hoses to match the stock hoses on the PCV nipples. Had to get 3/4" (19mm) brass barbs to replace the 1/2" ones that come with the can.
It should mount next to the air box with an L bracket and the bracket that comes with the can. Should be an easy one. I'll post pics if anyone wants. |

Great DIY, thanks for posting that. I guess the big question is, how much gunk does it collect?

Before the OCC, there was a fair bit of oil in the PCV hose from my car's first 7,000 km in tropical weather. Much less, and far cleaner than the gunk you see in some pics. I was expecting a similar amount in the can today. But it all seems to have leaked through the can's screw thread and run down the side of the can. The can itself was dry inside. For the life of me, I can't understand how. Isn't PCV a rather low pressure system? All the other connections were well seated and clean. |

Either I did not screw the can on tight, or the 50 micron filter is too restrictive and is forcing the oil out. If so, it should be removed. That amount of pressure in the crankcase could cause a leak.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but the number of folks with B46/B48 engines continues to rise and I'm sure some are considering catch cans to mitigate carbon build-up.
OP - I wish I knew enough about PCV pressures to answer your question. It's definitely a valid one though. Any update on your catch can setup and whether or not it's been worthwhile? |
