I gave up reading the news back in November, has that odious useless piece of shite Theresa May gone yet or is she still there as the scape goat for the Tory party?

Totally agree. If someone proposed a policy of free milk for all, the opposition would be up in arms fighting for the inequalities of the lactose intoletant.

Hang on a sec fellas...didn't her downfall come about due to repeated lies to parliament and being caught out on that? Has the definition of backbone been updated whilst I was looking the other way?

Yep, they are doing a pretty grand job of screwing us/the country on every issue possible.

A classic case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Either way there's a snide opposition member just waiting for their 'gotcha' moment.

Few would argue that Windrush wasn't handled very well, but it doesn't all fall at Amber Rush's feet - it's been a long-term problem including during a Labour government.

At the more macro level it has been the Conservative government's stated aim to reduce net immigration and to manage illegal immigrants. No surprises so far.

Labour is then up in arms that managing a situation includes the use of targets. Management tends to require the use of objectives, targets and outcomes (otherwise it's not management - it's monitoring), but of course that's all a bit difficult a philosophy for Labour. Far easier to maintain the 'let's just wait and see what happens' mentality.

Rudd, backed by the PM, should have just openly declared a targeted approach for the management of illegal immigrants and stood firm on the issue. The management process should include resolving an immigrants legal/illegal status before action is taken, that's to be expected, as can be demonstrated by Windrush.

And who's at the front of the outcry next to Comrade Corbyn ? Diane Abbot. Surely one of the most stupid, ill-judged and idealistic people in politics.

Watsey I am in complete agreement about Labour.

It would have been a whole lot simpler had the Tories been clear on targets - as you say, there is no management without them. They have made this mess for themselves by not being open and choosing instead to cover up and deny.

As usual, grubby vote grabbing (or clinging on to) from both parties.

It's a shame she was a good Home sec, hounded out of office by a rag and bob tail mob that is the labour front bench for effectively following the policy the previous labour government set, people forget the near impossibility of doing these jobs and how you cannot know everything about everything in a vast dept like the Home Office.

She handled the terrorist attacks really well and was a strong woman (I thought that was what people wanted more of?)

No wonder this country is in the state it's in when it doesn't matter about the truth of the matter but more about the optics of a situation.

Windrush affair is not good and they need sorting out and those that have lost their jobs need them back and money in their pockets but this was a civil service fuck up at the ground level these guys need to start taking some of the blame as they are the face of the Home Office.

Not knowing everything about everything in a large organisation is a fair point.

However, I would argue that the Home Secretary should know if there are targets for removing illegal immigrants, should know how those are being managed and should be able to communicate that honestly and openly to Parliament and the public.

Politicians telling lies or massaging the truth is nothing new. Similarly, getting caught out on that traditionally means the end of that role.
