Possible purchase of 530e, how much electrical autonomy?
Hi everyone, I'm Edd22 and I live in Madrid. I am interested in buying a 2018 or 2019 530e. My daily commute to work is 30 kilometers (18 miles). How much autonomy in electric mode do you currently have? Have you observed a loss of autonomy over the years? Thank you very much for your help.

I get around 14 miles on my 2018 530e but I drive in a spirited manner. My "estimated range" on the dash when I start varies between 15 and 19. The first mile of estimated range always seems to disappear within a few hundred feet.

The truth is that I expected a little more autonomy. Can the heating or air conditioning be activated remotely in this car?

You can pre-condition the car at a specific time using the MyBMW app or set a time in car, or enable the condition immediatey remotely using the app. This does use the Air Con, but does also use some of your battery stored power.

While the car is charging, can I also execute those commands?

I think you are in the worst case for use. Your commute is at the edge of the battery range. Outside temperatures will affect that range. Colder will reduce battery capacity and the resistance heating will also reduce range. Be sure to have heated seats so that you can turn cabin heat off. If hot, A/C will also reduce range but not as much as heating. But the bigger problem is use of the engine. You will probably need to run it most days in your commute, but only for a very short time. This means a cold start and not long enough to get the engine up to temperature. Worst thing imaginable for a gasoline engine, short of running it at the red-line when cold. If you decide to do so, manually start the engine (battery control mode) in the return portion of the commute and run the engine for at least 10 minutes before going back to full EV mode.

One of the great features. On 100+ days I use the phone app to turn on the AC after I finish the 17th hole. By the time I get to the car, it is very comfortable. But I have to remember to save electrons or it won't work.
