G31 with iDrive 7.0 connected to iPhone XS

If only the maps are active - works for some time, then Apple CarPlay crashes
If I add anything to the load like music or phone call - phone gets really hot and CarPlay crashes almost within seconds. Is been like that since I got this car, I don't drive a lot these days so it's not a real nightmare but if that could be fixed - that would be nice.

So - should I change the phone to a newer one (iPhone 14 comes out soon) or it's just the nature of the beast - or there's some fix I'm not aware of? Google etc suggests some eq changes - didn't work for me. Any help will be much appreciated!
