The latch on the trunk access door from the passenger compartment is broken ? Any ideas for replacement

but i can not find the part number for the door itself

Hey. Thanks. I’ve seen that. But the diagram/pic doesn’t look like mine “flap”. The latch is on the top and there is no circular lock.

thats the wrong one i think, this looks like the one on the inside of the trunk not the one in the cabin side.

Have you tried asking / calling a bmw dealership to ask for the part number?

Finally got to ask the parts department at local bmw. They don’t know the part number and cant find a listing for this part in any publication they have

I would try to pressure them to escalate the issue. Clearly it's part that can fail therefore one that should be able to be ordered and replaced. It may take time but somewhere up the chain they have to know how to order that part or at least fix their parts catalog so it can be ordered.

I have a broken sunglass hatch latch. Looked for a replacement awhile back, but completely forgot (use it every day, just got used to manually pushing the handle closed) until reading this thread. Thank you, for the reminder.

But sorry, can’t help you with your dilemma other than than pushing the dealer to source the part or a home spun solution like Velcro tape as misano blue suggested.

I have to say the Velcro doesn’t sound a bad solution if you don’t use the hatch regularly

Dealer says the whole bulkhead would have to be replaced as the latch isnt available separately.
