VW Scirroco R revealed

Under the hood, the new Scirocco uses a modified version of the previous Golf GTI's 2.0-liter engine which produces 265 hp and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. Power flows to the front wheels through either the standard six-speed manual transmission or the optional dual-clutch DSG gearbox. Thanks to this unique setup, the Scirocco R runs from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds (6.4 seconds with DSG) before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155mph).

I'm no particular fan of the new Golf or Scirroco. I have to admit though in it's "R" form the Scirroco looks amazing. I love the bodywork and every detail. Nice.

I like the looks. As quick as my MCS. Interior is very nice.

First cup of coffee sitting in front of me so....what is that "Oh shit" handle doing on the door? That is right where I would rest my arm while highway driving.

Garage List
The price most magazines are estimating on is around £25K which is the same price as the Focus RS which has an extra 30hp and 50Nm but looks like a 'Fast and Furious' movie extra and has none of the quality that appears to be ozing from the Scirroco.

If I was in the market for a smart looking practical coupe that will get to 100mph in 13s then I think it would be close to top of my list, but the absence of awd is a major shortfall that could affects it's all weather ability.

The question is, would I pay an extra £8K for a TT-S to get a questionably better looking car that has awd?

Somehow I think I would prefer to pocket the money and drive a bit gingerly when it rains. Great job Volkswagen.

In the UK the standard Scirroco 200ps weigh 2855 lbs so this Scirroco R shouldn't weigh any more than 3100 lbs, might in fact nudge the 3000 lbs mark.

Saw that on autoblog this morning...

Extremely jealous we're not getting it in the US. I would love to drive one of those everyday.

The other day, I saw the normal version of Scirroco passing by and it wasn't bad to look at. Not bad at all. It doesn't look impressive in pics but in real life . I like cars with sharp designs and this definitely fills the quota.

Agreed, I actually think in the right colour (Viper Green)

it looks sharper than the TT.
