Interior Trim translation help

Hopefully someone can help me with this.

I need to order a new interior trim piece for the centre console, but the shop can't seem to find it with my 'brushed aluminium' effect.

It might seem obvious but for nigh on 170quid I don't want to take the chance so thought I would post up here to see if anyone would know for certain.

The choices in the system (in Germany) are:

Alu/feinschliff
Satin Silver
Space Grey
Glacier Silver

Now that alu fienschliff seems to be the obvious one, but it's not the same reference number... and 'alufienschliff' only became available from March 09 onwards.

Did they change the look of it or is it different from brushed aluminium?

I'm upgrading the idrive controller so need the LCI trim piece to match.

Anyone know???

From what I've seen the Glacier Silver has some weird effect on the front. Had a look over the net and by the looks of it, theyve just changed the code reference for it... although whether they've changed the actual look, guess I will find out next week when I receive the part.

Oh and upgrading Idrive controller... just that got a new LCI one, tested it and works great, now just getting the centre console trim for it to fit in.

The 09 onwards will be a different design for the later idrive knob

feinschliff means- honed - fine-sharpened

The dealer can tell from your reg number

So how much did the new iDrive controller cost and does in need much retrofitting, or just plug in and work?

Lol... then I suppose I'm taking one for the team!

Can't use my reg number as mine isn't LCI, although my interior is 4aD or something, and that no longer exists as a BMW interior trim option... only one now is the 'alu' one I mentioned... from the pics, they look identical.. but whether it's slightly different I'll only know next week... suppose there's always ebay. lol

It should arrive midweek next week so as soon as it does, I'll let you know with a full piccie writeup.

As for the module, I bought it from another forum member in Denmark. It is literally plug and play... and sooo much easier to use than the old one. it is getting expensive though, 170euros for the module and 150 quid plus vat for the centre console.

If you have a controller that gives resistance when you get to the end of a menu.. it ain't workin. If, like me, it simply carries on spinning regardless... it is literally unplug, and plugin... even taking the trim off is fairly straightforward.

Mine gives resistance like that, does it mean it's broken?? I like the sound of this upgrade!
