I need another sealant....

I need another sealant. Its between Menzerna Power Lock, CG JetSeal, or BFWD. Read great things about each.

Which would you pick and why?

Been using Meguiars NXT (and have been generally happy with it) but it has some very mild abrasives and I want .....
- to be able to do non-paint surfaces which some of the others can do.
- something that is very durable.
- something that takes well to layering with more sealant or a wax.

I have some Collinite 845 to layer over it so I don't need a wax.

Any help is appreciated.

The durability and good looks of BFWD is really tough to beat these days. That would be my choice between the three, but I have yet to try Power Lock.

BFWD is my go to

why not stick with 845 though...easily 3+ months from that one!

I say Blackfire or Powerlock as they seem to be slightly slicker. NXT is really good for an OTC product IMHO, but the layering ability of a professional style sealant will really do you good.

Another vote here for Blackfire Wet Diamond. Super easy to work with, fantastic results when preceded by a good polish and glaze.

Here's a BFWD review with some nice pics..

Really?? Opti-Seal description says to spray it on and walk away. No wiping?? Are you expected to spray your entire car??

How durable is it??

I like Wolfgang 3.0--this followed by a good carnuba 24 hours later gives me great results.

I would say use your Collinite as a sealant, and buy a wax such as p21s 100% to top it with. Collinite is some of the most durable stuff out there(besides the new nano coatings).

Not sure which Collinite you're talking about, but I'm not aware of any synthetic sealants. The most talked about is Collinite 845, which is indeed very durable, but it's a carnuba based wax.

I'd say go with BFWD as a sealant, and top it off with some Collinite 845.

While it is classified as a wax, it lasts as longer or longer than most paint sealants, that's why I said that. Why use a base sealant that isn't as curable as the top coat?

Do you think its possible that with a sealant as slick as BFWD (or Powerlock, JetSeal, etc.) that if you put Collinite 845 on top it would not adhere well and just wash off?? There really is no concrete way to know what is truly protecting your car.

Collinite is a wax and I'd think it would work best with something less slick to grab onto.

A few months ago I put on NXT with Collinite on top but I really have no idea what is truly protecting my car.

Thoughts??

There are tons of people that have done exactly what you are doing. Which products are you comparing? What are you using as the measurement for "winning"?
