Risks of coding
Is there any risk of damage a module?
How can I revert to the original? What if I make any subsequent reprogramming at the dealership, there may be some conflict, apart from losing the coding? I'm talking about coding with NCS Expert.... |

Very hard to mess up and easy to reverse all the changes.
The biggest problem that has ever occurred to me is coding a newer instrument cluster with older files. After coding the cluster stops working and you get "Speedometer Malfunction" error on iDrive. Just recode with newer files and that's it. |

Hi,
normally you can not damage something with NCS and you can always restore all moduls defaults. Only flashing is dangerous. So feel free in coding with NCS. But be sure that you are using a current issue of ISTA files. |

ISTA V2.41 is the latest one. Ask google for it.

It's tough to brick a module using only NCS. The cool thing about NCS if you try to code non-standard values or wrong values when manipulating the PSW_FSW it will reject it and won't allow coding, although it is posible to mess up operation of the car by coding something incorrectly, say for instance the airbag (ABG) module. There is a updated list via google docs of tested/working items to code.
