Iphone not syncing...

My iphone has suddenly stopped syncing contacts with my car (2009 E92 with prof nav/idrive) for last few weeks it was slow to syncronise the contact to the car but now it has stopped altogether. It has worked fine for the last 5 months, i have unpaired and paired again but no luck, any ideas?

I had this but with my old e46 factory Bluetooth. I did some googling and some found some thing about the phone being overloaded with texts which I know sounds bizarre but I deleted some crap off my iPhone and hey presto is started working again.

Do you or have you recently downloaded any form of emoji icons app?

If any contacts of yours have emoji icons in the name it will fail to read everything in the contacts file.

Don't ask how I know this, it was just a process of elimination with a friend and his 5 series and retracing things he changed on his iPhone.

Take it you have tried the obvious like turning phone on and off and doing a 'hard reset' on iPhone (off button and home button pressed until phone goes off?)

No, nothing like that in my contacts. I have just spent an hour going through my contacts and deleting old ones, suprised how many i had. Also deleted all old text messages.
