Quick hello...
I just picked up my M40i today. First thoughts are the standard stereo is crap. I had a better sounding unit in my Nissan Micra which was traded in for this car! The Sport Plus mode seems pointless, the car seemed undrivable in that, completely tail happy even on dry road conditions. The car is fantastic to drive in standard Sport mode. So I'll stick to that.
I paid £34,750 here in the UK for a car with 3.5k miles on the clock and 13 months old. I thought that was quite reasonable. |

Regarding the sound system, the HK system is not great either. |

I totally disagree. I have the HK system in both my M4 and Z4 M40i and enjoy them very much. I just changed the default settings and it is fine. In addition, these are automobiles, not concert halls.

In a convertible with the top down, nothing will ever sound great, My previous convertible was a 991.1 TTS with the Burmester setup and that didn't sound so great either. Ferrari didn't even bother trying in their 458 spiders. Both systems sounded like crap, IME. HK is probably the best out their for measurable sound quality in their systems compared to other companies making audio gear, thanks to their use of Toole's research. |

I only drive my M40i in Sport Plus mode with S or M mode engaged for shifting. The throttle is very responsive and the steering is much more precise--The steering feels way too mushy overall, while simultaneously overresponsive in some ways and underresponsive in other ways, in the less aggressive modes.
I do feel that the power it puts down isn't always translating as well as I would like for road use. I do have the smaller wheel/tire size and perhaps the larger sizes help put more of the power down (but I would guess it ends up not making a numeric performance difference, since you're putting more power down but losing around the same amount due to the larger rotations). That being said, the 488 has very similar characteristics to the Z4 M40i when accelerating in a straight line in terms of power and wheel spin from a stop, so I sort of like it myself. However, the steering handling and engagement, and turbo lag, are much better overall in the 488. I bought it as a GT and daily driver so it works great for those activities. If I want ultimate engagement, I jump into the analog 997.2 GT3 RS. All said and done, there is a lot of headroom to make improvements, as an owner, with mods for the engine, drivetrain, and intake/outtake. That's pretty cool if you ask me, because in a year or two, if you're bored, you can basically make it a new car with mods. |

When you’re in the Sport Plus Drive mode if you push the shifter towards you (to the left) it will slip into S mode (I assume this means Sport?), so you’re in Sport Plus Sport mode, which has much more aggressive shifting, handling, and throttle response. If you then click on the wheel paddles (or shift the shift knob) it will go into M mode (which I assume stands for manual). This can be the most aggressive mode, because you can control the level of aggression at all times to its max, if you so choose. |

Got it this week after buying a 2006 Z4 3.0i in January of this year.
While I like the exterior styling of the e85 better, the technology of the new model is incredible! And the sound in sport mode makes me giggle like a little kid. |

Some cracking shots in here. Just checked all 6 pages, it’s amazing how individually all the colours make the G29 differ!

I’m just waiting the last few days whilst my new addition is prepped for me from the dealership so only have this quick snap I took on a grey day last week when I took her for a drive! Even with the dodgy lighting and poor backdrop I LOVE her! Arghhhh can’t wait How many Frozen Orange models do we have here? I’ve seen two so far in the previous pages

That's the color that I wanted, but it was not available in the US.

I’m so chuffed, collecting a Friday! Did they not do a First Ed. release in the US?

Great looking cars! I wish BMW offered more colors (or Individual colors), but Sapphire Black Metallic sure does clean up well. Now, I'll have the "joy" of trying to keep it clean . . .

Yes, I agree. Matallic black looks fabulous on the G29 as long as you are prepared to put a lot on time in keeping it clean and polished. 😁👍
