My birthday is at the end of the month, it's been a rough year so, I'm justifying some goodies and taking a few days off once I get my car back. Punch list - remote start (birthday present to myself), interior trim wrap, steering wheel wrap, possibly fog lights and maybe a diffuser. |

Well, the wife unit says she wants to play piano and I'm not holding her back despite misgivings that she will actually learn. As a musician with a heavy investment in guitars how could I say no to this? It is a Yamaha Clavinova which is a pretty cool digital piano. Keys feel real like a piano and it can do a lot of cool stuff with an iPad attached.

Now that I've been forced to retire by my doctors from motorsports competition and the last of my sponsorship obligations has ended, I have been using my "decal freedom" to amuse myself with custom plate frames on all my vehicles. Way more stuff fits on a plate frame than can be expressed on an 8-character vanity license plate.
The only non-customized frame that I have left is the blue "BMW i-Series" one sold by BMW..... .

Most people will only think of one thing when they see that plate, and it won't be about connecting your i3 to the mains for charging.

I have jumped through years of flaming hoops, red tape, and forms in triplicate to get the coveted golden ring...a NY State unrestricted CCW pistol permit.....

Went to Maido in Lima for dinner last night-- ranked as the #1 restaurant in Latin America for three years running and #6 in the world. Very, *very* different in tone that Central, but very, very good.
We did the wine/beer/saki pairing with the meal-- it's a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese-- which worked far better than you'd think. Much yum. Today was a travel day to Cuzco (~11,000')— acclimating (well, our friends are-- we're from Denver, so "meh" on the altitude), but Machu Picchu in a few days. If you're ever in Lima, I'd REALLY recommend dining at both Central and Maido. Both are absolutely outstanding! R.

Snows and X drive =unstoppable. Have you driven on 20 inch snows before? I wonder if they are as effective as a smaller diameter

Why would smaller diameter change anything? The tire composition/tread/contact patch is what gets you through the snow. Not the wheel size.

In this case, a 1" difference will not make any substantial difference, assuming all other things (tires, conditions...). For all practical purposes, the tires will be far more important than 1" of wheel/tire difference.

I’ll give you one better. The winter wheel and tire package for the new X6M is 21” !?!? The sidewall is 30 or 35 and 295? wide. WTF? Just what I want, a tiny sidewall for snow in pothole capital of the world. Don’t the damn engineers know narrower with more sidewall is better? I guess it’s all about looks over function. |

Narrower is always better in the mud and snow. So if you want "maximum" traction and snow-performance you would go with far narrower than any performance car comes with.
