^^^Food looks good. I could never have a roof rack for my bike. I am absolutely sure I'd forget it was up there and try to drive into my garage. It would be a bad end for the bike, the car, and probably the garage door frame.

Heading to St. Augustine next week. Surprised I’ve never been. Any recommendations?

Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. If you’re into history as I am, I enjoyed it. Also went camping there back in March and ordered from this Italian place that had pizza that was almost NY pizza but I can’t remember the name . Also went to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not but felt that the one in Orlando was better.

Someone on this forum posted a pic of their e90 with a caved in roof, shattered rear glass, bikes mangled and God knows what else when they went into a parking garage entrance.

If you like Greek food, the Athena restaurant is pretty good. Just basic stuff, though, nothing avant-garde. We've been to St. Augustine numerous times, but not for 5 or 6 years, so who knows what's changed since then. But I don't recall any meal that was exceptional. Mostly touristy restaurants. Great place to walk around at night. We stayed at the Casa Monica, which is right by Flagler College, so easy walking access to everything.

Thanks. The plan is to pick up an AirBnB for four nights, but the one we picked just backed out
Side note, indirect position is the possibility that we may be moving to the area, so a little recon as well. Job gives us position really anywhere between Macon and Orlando, but I keep landing on St. Augustine. So that said, we do have a bit of a bias in what we’re thinking…leaning against tourism spots and more towards what makes this area “cool.” Neat breweries, hole in the wall joints, neat parks, etc. excited to check out the fort and downtown, though. |

Drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway up to Mt. Mitchell. Perfect roads/scenery. As Ice Cube once said, today was a good day.

I drove through that exact section just a couple months ago.
Unfortunately we were IN the clouds and couldn’t see a thing. Much prettier view you had! |

Inside passage to Alaska over the Christmas/NY week? Wife came home all excited because her sister wants us all to do this in 15 months. We did this trip a few weeks ago, and it was tolerable weather, with seas in the 10-15' range. I'm not sure I want 25+ with temps in the teens of less.

I'm pretty sure that the cruise lines all reposition their ships to warmer climates for the winter.....

Just got back from four nights at an AirBnB with barefoot walking distance to the beach in Palm Coast. Nice quiet trip with great weather and essentially private beaches.

I used to like driving to Philadelphia rather than sailing out of NYC for this very reason. Took two Bermuda cruises from Philly. One of these days, I'm going to take a cruise out of Boston. It isn't as exciting as sailing out of NYC (Lady Liberty) or Philadelphia (Naval Yard and Delaware River), but it's one cruise port that's missing from my NCL punch card.....
