2025 Handschalter VIN Number Assigned!
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!
I was pleasantly surprised this AM to see on MyBMW that I've been assigned a VIN number and that under Track My BMW: "Your BMW has entered the production queue." Awesomeness!! This is the first BMW that I have ordered (vs. just spotting one and buying it at the dealer). Does anyone have a timeline/experience for how long it will take to produce from this point? My Dealer tells me that I was slated to start production in week 10...this notification seems early. The dealer was surprised as well and said that they heard that BMW is starting to produce this car a few weeks earlier than planned. Not sure if this is true, and I'm not complaining, but I wonder if others are hearing anything similar? I was also wondering if other people are getting VIN numbers assigned at this point? Just for fun I've shared my build below - Model 25ZB Z4 M40i Color 300 Alpine White Upholstery MAPQ Cognac Vernasca Leather with contrast stitching Options ZDA Driving Assistance Package 5AS Active Driving Assistant ZN1 Active Blind Spot Detection ZN4 Lane Departure Warning ZED Edition 4AT Black High Gloss Trim ZHO Shadowline Package 552 Adaptive Full LED Lights ZPP Premium Package 4UR Ambient Lighting 5DM Parking Assistant 610 Head-up Display 7XV Handschalter Package 1R8 19"/20" M Double-spoke Bi-color Alloy Wheel 2MA Manual transmission 3BE Mirror Caps in Black 3M2 M Sport Brakes with Red Calipers 7M9 Extended Shadowline Trim 248 Heated Steering Wheel 2VB Tire pressure monitor 2VC Mobility Kit 302 Alarm System 319 Universal garage-door opener 322 Comfort Access keyless entry 3DZ Without Lines designation outside 3YA Moonlight Black soft top 430 Auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors 488 Lumbar support 494 Heated front seats 5AP Decoding for no-dazzle high-beam assistance 688 Harman Kardon surround sound system 6AK ConnectedDrive Services 6C4 Connected Package Pro 6NW Wireless Charging 6WD WiFi Hotspot with complimentary 3-month or 3GB 8KL Oil Chg 10,000 mls/12 months 8TN Daytime driving lights 925 Shipping package ZAX Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility ZTM Tier 2 Accessories ZGC Floating Hub Caps ZGX MPP Performance Drive Analyzer ZJ8 LED Door Projector 50MM Thanks for the replies and have a great day!! |

You get the VIN at status 150, Production begins. That means all the parts have been allocated and are available. It's typically about 2 weeks ahead of the actual build day. As an example, below are the dates from my order last year.
The biggest variables will be the awaiting transport and the At the port times as that depends on the shipping companies. I also had delays in Brunswick as I did PCD which pushed out the delivery a couple weeks and they have limited space at the PC. I see you are in NY and CO. If the dealer is in the NY area, you'll save 4-5 days over the trip to Brunswick going to NJ or Baltimore first. Going to CO would add a week or so after it clears the port.

Where do you find the dates? I can't seem to find that level of details on BMWUSA site nor their app.

Thank you @GerryC - this is a great guide and very helpful. My dealer is in CO, so based on your note, it will be another week or so for the car to get from the East coast...honestly, the car can't come soon enough. Thanks again and cheers to everyone on the forum - and cheers to BMW for producing this car!!

Galveston would probably be the shortest, but you can't be sure which they would use. Asking at your local CO dealership might get you an answer.

Once it goes to scheduled for production, you can use the <F12> trick to see the predicted production date. Search the forum for threads that explain how to do it (several in the G05 forum.) The schedule between status 150 and 155 is pretty consistent, but even then you can get caught in QA at the end of production if there's an issue. That can add 1 day to 2 weeks or more with no real visibility (I heard it's usually waiting for a replacement part.) The rest is dependent on shippers and customs, etc. so can vary significantly.

My Dealer showed me how to log on and add a vehicle to MyGarage - and I entered the production number to do so. A day or so after that, the car was assigned a VIN number.

Are you all paying for leather options and Shadowline? I thought those would be included since sensatec isn’t an option and thought I read shadowline was part of manual package. Thanks.

Hi!
I have the following options - MAPQ (Full Cognac) - no charge, and ZHO (Shadowline) $550. It is my understanding that adding ZHO adds "552 Adaptive Full LED Lights," and you have to get ZHO to get the lights. Hope that helps! |

Just to be sure, the base price quoted is for the auto version. ZED package adds $3500 which includes the manual and some other things. But nothing new there.
