This M is a bit over 18 months old & I took this picture 5 minutes ago. Recent trip to the beach left its salt dirt but when clean looks brand new.
Subject to normal exposure & salt mist at the beach. This picture was cut & reduced to fit the forum but you can still make out the iPhone reflection in the outer leg of the M. Can't remember where I got it other than it was mail order, part of a 3 badge set, not official BMW, and around the same price as Amazon.

Hey BEAR,
A bit off topic, but could you please give me/us your thoughts on the Z4M40 vs your M4CV? I have a 440CV on order, but I did think fairly hard about the Z4M40. I had an MRoadster back in the day (1999) and really liked it, but just felt too confined in it for a daily driver. So I went with the G23 as I couldn't justify to myself the extra $20k to get an 83 for those couple of days a month when I could find an open road and get on it.... |

Inside is a closer match. I like the Z4 seats better but for a convertible the M4C seat has one winner. Power Neck Warmers. The whole dash panel is the same but as expected the M4C shows different stuff & the entire panel actually reconfigures in M mode. HUD has more performance details & a better tach. Sound system is a wash & seem identical. But with the woofers right behind you I like the Z4 on that better. The programming is different & there are a lot more drive options on the M4C, not necessarily a good thing. There are two red levers below the shift levers that will store specific custom driving modes. For an impromptu Traffic light grand prix you can go from any setting to the ideal previously selected performance mode by pushing either one. Just some general thought if you have something specific just ask. EDIT: Had an old fart brain fart. One thing I wanted to say is to look into seeing if the shift paddles can be installed on the Z4. I changed the picture because its not clear. The paddles extend down past the steering wheel spoke. Very nice if you have to move your hands while turning.

^ Nope, just curious what you thought of the two. It's rare to come across someone with both I suspect. Thanks
I can see where the Z4 would be super fun to drive, but I was just afraid of it's limitations for my daily driver setting. I'm limited to a 2 car garage, so I need 1 car that can do all that I want so the G83 probably would have been the best choice for me, but I'm hopeful my pending G23 will get the job done at a fast enough pace and let me keep my license. My XR covers my need for speed at the moment...

The M4 6MT needs a very very good driver to maintain traction. To much power tires burn up. Not enough power & he is slow. The driver that finds the Goldilocks zone between power & traction will eat your lunch. Those drivers are few in real life. That and there are will continue to be a lot of MT M4 RWD's out there as its priced pretty good compared to the others. The vid is a RWD M4 but its an AT you will find it interesting. https://youtu.be/4M1EOTJaFgQ

^^ Thanks BEAR. I enjoy the Joe Achilles videos. In the couple of months leading up to placing my order and the couple of months since my order, I've watched every M440i/CV video (and many of the M3/4 videos) I can find....most of them 2-4 times.
I think it will be fast/quick enough for me. Best 0-60 I've heard is 4.1 and in the motortrend video they claim to have posted 4.2. So it should be a little quicker than my current 440GC, but topless...which I'm excited about! Reading/watching all the G8x reviews with mid 3 sec 0-60, it would be a pretty solidly faster feeling car in an auto (my interest in a stick daily driver is near zero). So, I suspect after a couple of years, I'll start to look at a G83 and maybe trade up after any sort of LCI into a used pre-LCI one for not all too much more money, maybe. I appreciate all your input and the comparison!! Anything else comes to mind, please add-on!

If only there was some kind of aftermarket solution. I usually just blasted the heat with the side windows up if it's really chill outside. Sold my 2020 Z4, missed it so much that I have another coming. Rob |
