Anyone up for the Glen on 5/16&17 with Chin?

I've just signed up for Watkins Glen on May 16 & 17. I'm excited, I'll get to try my new 275/305 setup...

The advanced group will feature a 2009 Oreca LMP, and wonder of wonders a 1975 McLaren F1 car. The last session each day is open track, I hope to run with these cars and catch them on the GoPro. Should be glorious.

Anyone from here think of joining? There are more GT3's than bimmers in this event...

I am planning to go with Del Val BMW CCA July 13-14.

$449 (~1/2 the cost of Chin) and quality organization!
If you register by 5/07, you get an Early Bird Discount of $25.

Chin was indeed expensive at $650, but I wanted to go with my buddy so we make sacrifices . I cannot go mid-July, I'm going to see family in Europe.

Have fun!

Speaking of Chin, it looks like a lapping day-focused organization, that charges extra $100 for instructors?
And requires $50 "Chin club" membership?

Good thing I'm not requesting an instructor then .

Look at the car roster, and tell me if you've ever seen all those cars together at the same time on other track days. It is a bit of an extravagance granted, but I have never seen an actual F1 car run a track event, and the mere possibility to run with that on track is worth the extra cost to me. I'll try it at least once...

I normally run with Trackdaze, NCCA BMW, etc. Not a snob about it by any means.

Funny, I try to beg/borrow/steal an instructor. I always learn something new from them!

All good, as long as they know their limits, and are not learning by bouncing off your sheet metal

I know what you mean, and it has been a long time since I've done this track. But I registered late and all the instructor slots were taken. Took me a long time to get the wheels and tires together...

Yes indeed, and isn't that the case with any track day.

I've had cars spin in front of me with all the organizations I've been with so far, plus seen more exotic incidents (Exige Cup bursting in flames 100 yards in front).

I always try to keep a clear head, try to manage traffic with risk in mind, and always leave something in reserve because after all I'm tracking a daily driver.

I understand you may think that Chin is not good value, and I may even agree with you when I come back. But I won't know until I try, right?

Looking forward to your report and videos. Interested to hear about repaved surface.
I am going there with chin in july. Was there with them last year and let me tell you that this club is one of the best i have been with in 10 years and they run very well organized event.
Also, they attract top notch drivers coming from other states like california with super fast cars.
I was driving in their fastest run group and was getting passed from left and right by full blown race cars.
